The Sons of the Pioneers was Roy Rogers' first musical group to break into the big time on the Western scene. Founded in 1933, the group is famous for its unique harmonies. Its most famous compositions are Tumbling Tumbleweed and Cool Water. The original Sons of the Pioneers were designated National Treasures by the Smithsonian in 1977. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980 and later into the Western Performers Hall of Fame in 1995.
